Cost Price Of Carpet

Hi,

Does anyone know how much it costs a carpet shop to buy carpet they sell for £12 a sqmtr?

Do they have a % mark up or add some on depending on what they think they can get punters to pay?

All goods are sold for what the seller thinks the punter will pay. They might start off with a percentage markup but will adjust it if sales are going well or not going well.

I am in dispute with a carpet fitter that did a job and is blaming pets (one of which does not exist) for his poor workmanship. It is clear it is his. Fault but he is obviously not admitting liability or responsibility.

He has offered to replace the carpet (with a better quality one than the original) for 50% of the £12 cost.

Although I don't think I should have to pay for a replacement, I think he will in effect be replacing the carpet at no cost to him and I will be footing the full cost of his purchase price.

The question is what it is worth to you, not whether he is being inconvenienced or out of pocket for his mistake.
