Trying to get in touch with an old pal I recently signed up to Linkedin.
Have now rec'd a msg in my internet inbox saying someone from Linkedin wants me to contact them. I'd need to click on the blue link provided ... .
I ignored this and went direct to the site but there are no messages in my inbox there. Sounds like phishing?

Most likely. You did the right thing to ignore the links in the email, and checking by directly logging in.

It doesn't help that Linkedin emails are often not very clear or useful, and often appear a bit spammy.
You've done the right thing and gone to check via the site rather than click a link, it's what I do.

Linked in is a dogs dinner of a website.
Yes it happens all the time especially when a contact list has been harvested.
