School dinners!
Does anyone remember the cheese flan that we used to have for school dinner? I have wistful, nostalgic, fond memories, and would love to recreate it, so RECIPES PLEASE.
It was bright orange, probably made from that evil plastic government cheese, and was top with chips and beans...
Perhaps it was just a 70's & 80's thing? Don't know what they feed the nippers on these days.
Ta very much!

Cook gas 6 for about 30 mins.
This was one of the most popular dishes I cooked. Another was homemade mini pizza's and curry or spag bol, (again, all homemade, none of this ready made rubbish they seem to serve the kids today) and this only going back 10 years in Essex.
I'm a school cook and we don't serve any of that ready made rubbish at all, haven't for the last 2 years. All made from scratch, even the bread rolls.
We did used to make the flan, right up to about a year and a half or so ago. The kids hated it, mainly because they didn't recognise it!! and never had it at home. It's hard trying to get the kids to eat healthy when it's not followed thru at home.
One kid the other day actually asked, "what's that round thing?" It was a new potato!
