Thoroughly enjoyed him. He stood for two hours and just rattled the stories off.
His language was a bit choice but that was to be expected. He was shaking a fair bit due to his Parkinson's and he is looking a lot older now.(But aren't we all)
He recounted something he did years ago. Get a banana and a needle, stick needle into banana half an inch from the end. Wiggle the needle about until it has cut across the banana, remove needle, insert again about half an inch down and repeat all the way down the banana. Put said banana back in fruit bowl. Wait for unsuspecting victim to take a banana, peel it and find it has come ready sliced inside its skin. I think that is brilliant, I'm going to have a go at that.
When we went into theatre we had our bags searched, they confiscated bottles of water, told we could buy some inside at the bar as ours were lethal weapons.
Went to the bar bought two bottles at £2.50 each. Assistant removed the tops off the bottles and put a plastic cup over the neck of the bottle. I asked what was going on. She replied we are not allowed to let you have a sealed bottle as you could use it as a weapon! For heavens sake what is the world coming to.
Still a very enjoyable evening.

Glad you enjoyed it Caran. I have always found him funny. I've got a couple of his videos from years ago when he was in his prime and used to put them on if I needed cheering up.
Thought I replied to this last night, I'm losing it - not a surprise.

Glad you enjoyed it Caran.

Yes the banana trick is fun , even if you can only get away with it once, children love it.
Glad you enjoyed the evening, you potential assassin, you... ;-)
I think An Audience With Billy Connolly is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

His tale about Scottish singing made me weep with laugher - fantastic comedian, and it appears, a very warm and gentle man.

I have just done the banana thing and put them back. We will have cereal in the morning so could be a laugh.

My Aunt bought my Mum one - not that she ever wore it but I had great fun bouncing about in it.

Somewhere to park your bike eh:-)
I heard him do that joke live, not sure where it was, possibly the Isle of Wight in the 1970s ?
Massive ripoff re the water. If they're going to take water off you, they should let you take an empty bottle in and refill it from a tap.

Glad you enjoyed the show.
Hi Caran
I went last night too :-) third time I've seen him live and I thought he was brilliant. It was sad to see him so frail and obviously struggling a bit. He said he was having a particularly bad couple of days. But this didn't detract from his humour. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hi jubieanna. Nice to know another Aber was there too. I was amazed at the end, I was still waiting for an interval. Couldn't believe he had done two hours nonstop.
Yes not the usual format for a stand up show with no interval or encore, just him stood in one place with his table and glass of water. He still held the audience for the whole 2 hours. It must take it out of him to do a tour I take my hat off to him :-)
If I'd have seen your post about going I would have arranged to say hello! But I was in Cardiff all weekend watching Wales get hammered by Australia on Saturday!!
lovely man..stayed in same hotel near Newcastle once on a residential course..he was doing 3 nights in newcastle, was travelling alone and he joined our group every night for dinner pre show and drinks after his shows...brill live...
Aw how lucky you are murraymints...I would love to meet him I'm pleased he's as nice in person as I imagined he would be.
