Sunday. I shall start by retyping my lost post of yesterday, regarding dinner Friday evening. Hold on it will make sense, I promise.

The vegetable soup was obviously the leftover vegetables from Thursday, cooked to death and pureed, then water and some colouring added. It was disgusting. The main course I chose was the meat platter, expecting a range of meats with vegetables. It consisted of two slices of Turkey, I reckon from a bird that surrendered, with one slice of ham that was more fat than meat. It was supposed to have boiled potatoes, I asked for chips, what I got was three small supposedly roast potatoes. They were about a third carbon and the rest so hard it was all but impossible to eat them. I didn't. The vegetables when they arrived consisted of raw cauliflower and green beans, also raw. The dessert I opted for was fruit salad with cream. That consisted of chopped apple, chopped pear, a few grapes and a single cube of pineapple. The cream was about a teaspoon of clotted cream. To say it was awful is being polite!

Last night however was the complete opposite.
The tomato soup was freshly made and very good. I opted for a pork steak for main. It was cooked to perfection, the vegetables roast potatoes, sweetcorn and carrots, also cooked to perfection. For dessert I opted for the Apple crumble with custard. Excellent!
We had toyed with the idea of eating out and refusing to pay the hotel for the meal we wouldn't have had. But we could not fault dinner last night. Why the difference I can't explain. I will just say that the menu choices were limited.

The waiting staff were excellent, helpful and attentive. I must say they were embarrassed Friday evening, much happier last night.

Have a happy day everyone.

We head homeward today after another excellent evening last night. But Friday's dinner will not be easily forgotten.

Had a Scotch Fillet at our local Friday night, was a bit hesitant ordering it, but it was perfect.

Son had a Mega Mixed Grill. 2 Scotch Fillets, 2 Lamb Cutlets, 2 Sausages, 2 Rissoles, 2 Rashers of bacon and 2 Pork Loins, along with salad and chips. It's served on a platter and if you finish it in one sitting you get 4 free beers.
Morning Dt, cya Boaty.
there's a place near Fort Worth that gives a free meal if you can eat a 75oz steak and all the trimmings - sounds like ozzy's son should have a pop at that.

Nobody about, so I've come back up again.

Looking at those two menus I think I'll pass.

Just beginning to get light here now. Looking like a nice day for going home.
He would kill that easily. He's a tad under 90 kg without a gram of fat on him and an appetite too boot.

He had to drive the next morning, geez I appreciated free beer ;-)

It always tastes better than the beer you have to pay for.
Mrs Oz is about 40 mins away from home. I'm going to make it look like I've been responsible this weekend, (with 2 sons visiting, yeah,,,right). Stick a chicken and leek pie in the oven and get some spuds roasting along with a very cheesy vege bake.

Cya all later
Do you think I need gravy too?
If I was in Plymouth, I would opt for Dim Sum or Sushi....apparently two decent restaurants for those types of cooking.
No ozzy, there should be plenty of moisture in the pie....

Morning All !

I stayed in a big chain hotel, on the Hoe in Plymouth, about 20 years ago, for a Conference. The room had smashing views and a small balcony.

I was reading the Sunday papers, with the balcony door open and I felt something moving around my legs...........it was a fecking sea gull, about the size of an eagle !

Beautiful morning here in Swansea. According to the forecast, its going to be a wonderful day....lots of bright sun, just like yesterday.
morning mikey - I am off shortly to find papers and fuel - and then a coffee.... have a good one, all...
