Amazingly good reviews for the price:

But, is it a'Hoover?'
Now a generic name for a vacuum cleaner.
A link to a thread about Dyson vacuum cleaners doesn't seem to tie in very well with Caribeing's 'reasonably priced' requirement, Gizmonster!
Yea I realised after I posted it - the need for an edit/delete function on here is much needed lol :P
I knew I'd commented on a similar thread not long ago and hastily found it and posted the link .... before I read it :(
Don't buy anything with the brand name "Hoover". It'll be nothing but trouble. I once had a faulty dishwasher made by them and trying to get it repaired was a nightmare. Having bought it from a catalogue company, the latter would not issue a pick up authorisation until an "engineer" looked at it. In turn, the engineer would not sanction a repair until the "area manager" looked at it. The latter refused point blank to issue a pick up authorisation. We ended up scrapping the appliance and buying new. We vowed never to buy a Hoover product again.
Not overly helpful, but I bought the cheapest upright vacuum cleaner when mine went bang and I had no money. It was £55 from Argos, and very light. However, it was very plasticky and badly made (obviously) and I've gone through 2 fan belts in around 20 vacuums. I find that you get what you pay for!
The overall conclusion whenever Which? test vacuum cleaners is....lower -priced ones are invariably poor performers.
The only lightweight ones that perform well are cordless (by Dyson and Bosch)...but not cheap.
your local public library should hold back numbers of Which magazine. Tryt hem.
Last time I looked, Which said that any vacuum cleaner costing under £100 was a waste of money, as it would not last.
Agree with 'bookend'. When we got married in 1966 we bought an actual Hoover vacuum cleaner, but after a few weeks it stopped working. Hoover repaired it under guarantee - but a few weeks later it stopped working again!

They refused to repair it a second time, implying it was something that we did to it, they also refused to give us our money back. I was a bit naive then and didn't take it any further, but from that day we vowed never to buy a Hooover product again.

That was fifty years ago and though my wife has now passed on, I'm proud to say that not once have I purchased any of their products since.

I think we did the right thing, I subscribe to the Which? magazine and it's surprising, or possibly not, that I've never seen so many items given a 'Don't buy' rating as the products manufactured by Hoover.

Sorry Caribeing, I've not recommended a vacuum cleaner to you, but I think that whatever you decide, please avoid the Hoover range.

I just bought a dyson dc40 animal. It's brilliant normal price overv£340 in Agos it's currently£199 I love it
G Tech Air Ram and G Tech Multi. Excellent value for money. They might seem a bit pricey, but worth every penny.
