Trump has been ridiculed and criticised for his promise to build a wall on the Mexico border, but would it makes sense for Europe to build one on the Turkish border?

Ah, you see AOG, you've made the Trump 'Wall vs Fence' issue.
I don't see the 'Wall vs Fence' as an issue, a guarded, razor wire fence is probably even more impregnable than a brick wall.
Just Greece to persuade then......
Just the Greeks to persuade then? Ooooh that will be difficult, given the historic good relations between Greece and Turkey. Just remind the Greeks of the Istanbul pogrom and they are onside.
// but would it make sense for Europe to build one on the Turkish border? //

no it would make no sense at all
which presumably is why you are floating the idea ( to stimulate discussion)
Population transfer is nothing new
they have done it before

Just goes to show how divorced from reality the EU management is. It is and was perfectly obvious what Erdogan's reaction would be to this announcement.
Even ivory towers have to have ladders down to the Earth, don't they?

We've historically had borders and they have worked. Of course Europe should have a border. 'Good fences make good neighbours' is the more domestic variant. I have no problem with Trump's border ideas - some of the other things are different.
Perhaps it'll encourage those saving the lives of those trying to cross in a sinking vessel, to remember which coast they are supposed to return the saved to.
