Bank Ddebits

Bank is refsinb to pay my DDs coz I use my business address instead of home address. Home address is in their files but my home post is insecure as others can access it.
As a result am getting threats of penalties from DDs companies & have resorted to settling payments by credit card. Is this bank refusal normal ?

If you want to solve your DD problem, and the bank are saying it's because of your address, change your address to your home address. if your mail to that address is insecure, Don't get paying in books sent to you, but go to the branch to pick them up

Not usual in my near 4 decade Banking career. You should be able to have 2 addresses on your file. Your home address which they use to do any checks and a postal address for mail. It is not unusual for a small business or students to want mail to go to a different address.
When 'returning' a DD unpaid they have to give a reason, have you asked the originators what they have been advised as the reason?
Has the Bank specifically told you that is the reason they are not paying them?
In this computerised world, I do not see how manual intervention even comes into play. The BACS processes the DD straight to your account and it should automatically be paid unless there are insufficient cleared funds to meet it, when it will then flag up for a decision.
Other than that the Bank would have to place a marker on your account for your transactions to be referred regardless of funds.
I will add I have been retired a few years now but cannot imagine things changing that much.

Ttt, bank dont like me having 2 postal addresses, one is my business & tother is my home. Bank has my cell phone number only for contact. My branch have promised to sort it but the central office are the sticklers. Meantime, my motor ins DD has been refused as has home & business insurance.

I would go into the bank and see the manager
and demand they change it in front of you
or change but dont go to Tesco Bank- their security systems truly are crip
and yes it sounds like a story
make sure your new bank will accept two addresses .....
Ubasses will confirm ( I hope) that alot of service issues depends on the quality of the manager ...
Midland in 1990 just closed my branch ( in Darzet aaaarh ! ) and didnt tell me where they had put my account and unpersoned me as well. oh and disconnected the phonic so no one who cdnt bank cd find out what had happened ....and my debit card looked just like a Midland card ( hem hem) but had no disclosable information on it
Manchester midders said " well I can tell you what they have done but none of us believes they have actually done it " I changed my bank
to the RBS which in the words of Milton Friedman is "the least worse of a pretty poor bunch" - least worse is meant to tbe the direct opposite of 'much better'

No DDs honoured by bank! Spent hours arguing at local branch (holding up tut-tutting queue) and costly phone time all to no avail. Enquired at another bank to open new account but too much red tape & faff atm to follow thru.
Too stressed & exhausted by bank, so will plod on regardless & see what happens. Hope no one has reason to sue me for accidents coz with DDs unpaid, am not covered by insurance :(
