For the past 34 years since i left school, i have been a gardener for a local authority, working my way up to head gardener. My job is nice and i enjoy it but we're having cutback after cutback and things are changing for the worst and i feel i need a new challenge.

So i've often thought about being a train driver....something that ive always wanted to do. I know the train service is not without problems with cutbacks and strikes etc but it's an itch that's getting bigger.

Any pointers or suggestions on whether i'm too old or too stupid etc

Cheers

whyever not ? one can only ask....write to all operators in your area

Would certainly have it's good points and keep you in line ;o)
I can't imagine that the job is the same as the one you thought great 50 years ago. I would imagine that it is now quite tedious. No steam, no coal shovelling, do they even have a whistle to pull any more ?
