If anyone misses an NHS appointment without informing the Hospital without a good reason should they be charged the £150 that it costs for a "No Show"?

but how much of that is a proportion of things like heat, light, secretarial and support staff wages, cleaning and other things that would have to happen anyway?

On the other hand, perhaps I could bill the NHS for the time/money I've wasted by them cancelling my Dad's hip-replacement operation this morning 30 minutes before he was due to book in.

The reason? Because we had a cold-snap last night there [i]might[/i] be pressure on the number of beds due to people falling and snapping bits of themselves.

I think there should be some sort of financial penalty for those who miss any medical appointment without calling to cancel. Hopefully it would then free up lots of appointments so that people like jackthehats dad could have their op when it was scheduled.
I've no idea how to organise it realistically though.
