Since my son has grown up we don't bother at all. It used to be about a week before Christmas, when we did.
Bloke over the road has his flashing c r a p lights up already flashing away since Friday.
I don't put up a tree. I haven't for years, I find them untidy
My daughter's birthday is in early December and ever since she was a little girl the tree has gone up in time for it. I hoped, that as she got older the thrill of seeing the tree would wear off, but, oh no, she asked the other day if I'd make sure the tree went up by her birthday. She'll be 16!!

I think you're overthinking this and should stop worrying about what what your online peers think is an acceptable date and especially what the "Street" thinks and put up your tree whenever you feel like.

I already have my tree up, Christmas decorations, snow spray on all of my windows and a great angels with a goodwill message large silver wreath on my door and it's only November but I love Christmas.

I'd love to have had enough money and the know how to do those extravagant outdoor lights and Christmas Santa, Reindeers etc.. That you see in the US and also here.

If only we actually get a white Christmas this year that will have made mine and many childrens, both young and old's day.
It's Mini Boo's birthday on the 1st of December, so we always let her have her day then ours usually goes up the first weekend after that. As her birthday's on a weekend this year, I might put it up during her birthday along with her 2 friends who are sleeping over (then rearrange it again later)
not put 1 up in years

,bah!humgug
I wait until after my son's birthday on the 7th. But- whenever you are ready is fine.
I am a traditionalist BUT I try to fit in with the 'en trend' movement at times...so I can say....1st December to the young ones....but for old ffffarts like myself....probably 15th December at the earliest. I trust that accommodates most lol.
Next year, cannot be bothered this year.
Woofgang How can Christmas ( the celebration of the birth of Christ) predate Christianity?
I think you mean the ancient pagan festival of Yuletide . Yuletide does predate Christianity, it was/ is a celebration of the winter solstice which heralds the return of Spring. Christianity 'hijacked' it to celebrate the birth of Christ. Just as they 'hijacked' the spring fertility festival , where an erect penis ( Maypole) is worshipped, and used it to celebrate the death of Christ as Easter!
@op, If it really means that much to you and you're on the fence and feeling confused and unsure then why not get a small cheap 1foot one you can put on your table? That would be a great compromise until you feel it's ready to break out the big tree.
Celebrating the Winter Solstice is fine but it definitely doesn't involve a christmas tree which was a Victorian "invention".
Ummmm - buy one and prune it to fit into a corner!
Driving home tonight I realised ours is the only house in a street of 10 that doesn't have some kind of outdoor lights up - they seemed to have all done it this week.
