I can type a copyright symbol on my keyboard? I am after a 'c' but with the circle around it.

Hold down the Alt key and type 0169 using the Number Keypad on the right of your keyboard.

When you then release the Alt key a � appears.

I have found in Word and Excel you can get this by typing a letter c inside brackets like so (c)

It then converts it to a copyright symbol.

I found this by accident.

You could also try Character Map (Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools).

Select a font, then copy and paste the character you want. It's more long-winded than the other suggestions, but it does let you select a different font, and also it lets you use other characters, like � and ۩ and �, if you needed those.

Many thanks folks but none of them work for me :-( The best I can get is a plain c when I hit the numerical 0 with the alt key not held down. If I type (c) it comes as typed....................... !

You have to hold down the Alt key while typing 0169 - do not release the Alt key until after you have typed the 9 (all on the Numeric keyboard with Num Lock on). When you release the Alt key the � symbol will appear.

PhilBy, you can get all kinds of symbols on MS Word ( I hope that's the softare you're using?). Open MS Word, go to -->insert-->then select 'symbol'---->in subset(top right hand corner) look for "letterlike symbols" and you'll see the (c) symbol.

You can create your own shortcut key(ie- ALT +c) to access it anytime on your own keyboard.
