Meltoadhall, perhaps she CHOSE not to have an abortion. I'm personally pro-choice, but by definition that means that people ( yes all people, even young girls) have a choice and if she chose to keep her baby then that is entirely her perogative and should be respected.

what is worse - having a 12 year old child scarred for life by making her give birth? Or removing a foetus that would as you say die anyway? giving even more grief !!

I have worked on a gynae ward in a major hospital, and you cannot judge who or why people should or should not abort.

maybe she just didn't know she was pregnant, or was just plum scared of what would happen when it was found out, she's only 12.

If we are to believe what the media tells us, and from what we hear from our own children/grandchildren, that girls 'experiment' with sex, sometimes just to keep up with their peers.....then thank goodness they haven't reached puberty. Otherwise there would be a lot more babies born to under age mothers!

They might give adequate education at school, but that obviously doesn't stop them from seeing what all hype they read in the magazines (aimed at that age group), is about, namely sex. To have agony aunts and problem pages for these children to respond to, just shows how many are sexually aware, albeit immaturely.
