Today my GP referred me for a knee X-Ray. The hospital staff said he will have the results in three weeks. Why so long? I'd have thought that these days it could be e-mailed almost immediately.

Thanks for all your answers, especially Sqad =- I didn't realise it was such a specialism. On Holby City the newly-qualified F1's interpret X-rays with apparent ease - that's another reason why I can tell my wife it's a load of rubbish. I don't mind the wait because it's not a matter of life or death - I suppose if it were important it would be done more quickly, which might be another reason why I have to wait longer.
