Why, when party goers KNOW they are going to get free drinks at staff "do's" insist on getting half a skinful beforehand thus becoming totally inebriated and obnoxious before the end of the evening.
Is it just the time of year that makes it acceptable to stagger about bumping into people and tables and generally ruining evenings for more restrained partygoers?
What their bosses must think, I don't know!
I am no party pooper or a boring old f@rt and the people involved aren't youngsters either!
Are they the type of people who never go out at any other time of the year? They are probably taking advantage of the "everyone get peed" vibe at Christmas and new year. In fact New Year's Eve is worse.
Possibly it's because they feel obliged to go to a staff do, but don't see any pleasure in spending extra time with people who's only connection is that they work for the same company.
Yep, The Chair. I like a drink as much as anyone, but I didn't go to our works Do. Couldn't bear the thought of sharing a table with women (they are mostly women) shrieking and glugging down the wine. Noooo thanks, I'll stay at home and have a glass on my own.
I always found the best place at office do's was behind the bar ..serving..and watching with a wry smile....just wait 'till I tell you what you were up to lol
