I received the princely sum of £10 into my bank account yesterday. I should be getting the pension around now.
Could anyone tell me what the letters XB stand for and why I've received it?

This isn't my Pension for this month is it? Thanks.

I saw £10 on my bank statement and googled it. Up came the same question on Answerbank so now I know Thanks everyone.

as for the winter fuel payment. how many people these days don't pay their fuel bills by direct debit, so why do we need a payment in the winter, the easy answer is to put £4 a week on the pension but then the government will be asking people to take control over their own spending! perish the thought!

As it happens I live in a rural area with no gas so i have to buy Oil and coal but I buy it in the summer when the prices are a bit cheaper. Can i have my winter fuel payment in the summer please?
Apparently it is a Christmas Bonus. Xmas Bonus. XB
