As I smoothed out my fitted bed sheet and fluffed and straightened my duvet, which took all of 20 seconds, just how long it's used to take to make the beds when I was first married in the mid seventies.

Tucking in the sheets, three blankets, an eiderdown and then the cover. Making the beds took a large slice out of the morning.

The youth of today don't know they're born. Anyone, agree?

Ohhhh yes, johnny. Wasn't so bad if you stuffed an old beano down the back of your trousers.
I remember well, when I was about 10/11, and used to go with my Mother on a Saturday morning, with an old pram full of washing to the Laundry House, which looked like a prison, inside and out.

We were there for hours, and all the women kept patting me on the head, and pinching my cheeks, saying, what a lovely boy I was, to my mothers delight.
I too had a Rolls washing machine and a Flatley drier. Memories eh?
Grandchildren were rummaging one day and found my mushroom thingy. They asked what it was for. When I said it was for darning socks, they asked what is darning? I tried to explain it but they couldn't get why I would do such a thing!
Mum had a Thor - it was so big we had to build an extension to house it.
Darning is very therapeutic but have nothing to darn

Oh, the Flatly!! We had one too. It was kept in our garage until my older sister allowed me to put our Mini car away for the night when I was just learning to drive. My foot slipped off the brake pedal and I drove it at full pelt, only coming to a halt when I flattened the Flatly into the wall!!

My parents chose that moment to return home and my sister took the blame for me.

She was made to wear Scholl Driving Shoes for ages after that. Happy days.
