Mitsubishi Mirage Heater Problem

Only cold air comes out of the vent by the steering wheel. All others give hot air when needed.
The main dealer asked for nearly £1k for repairs but later reduced this to about £580. I was told a specialist engineer would have to visit.

It is tolerable so I shall probably not have the work but I do wonder if that is wise

So all the other vent are ok Coppit?, have you taken off the plastic vent grill for any reason? the rear of the vent goes into a tube that goes to the Heater Box / Motor, have you checked that out? regards the price of £580, don't go anywhere near a dealer get a small family garage to look at it 1/4 of the cost.

I can understand yr annoyance and apologise, but I've had a ministroke affecting my eyesight, (this is being typed for me), so life is in turmoil at the moment and I'm not allowed to drive a car fttb.
