maternity leave and teaching

My maternity leave - 6 months - is due to finish in the middle of the summer holidays. I can't actually go into work so does that mean that I can't get paid until I go back in September? I understand that I could go in for 1 day in July and get paid for the holidays but what if I don't want to do that?

Hello - whenever I have returned from maternity leave to my teaching job I have returned on the first day of the holidays (and have got full pay from that date). If you have to go in for the last day of term to get six weeks worth of pay I think it is worth it (you could probably take the baby with you) - I also think that you only have to be there for half an hour or so and then you can say that you don't feel well!
