Why on earth do loads of TV programmes have dogs barking in the background.
My dog goes berserk as I'm sure a lot of other people's dogs do. It's most annoying. What do there people think?
For added realism, I can here dogs barking as I'm typing, our two dogs are flaked out in front of the fire so it's not them. As far as I know the next nearest dogs are about 80-100 yards away.
I bet you don’t notice how many programs/ads have high pitched whistling in the sound track. My dogs know the difference between telly noise and real noise but a whistle makes them alert and will wake them from sleep. I guess its the same as the barking dogs, if you haven’t got a reason to notice then you don’t.
I've never noticed dogs barking on TV.
I'm looking after one for a couple of weeks, so I will note when dogs are barking on telly and see how things are.
An update to this thread.
I said I would report on how my 'foster' dog would react to other dogs barking on screen. She was sleeping quite soundly in front of the telly, but roused when she heard dogs barking in a (possibly bad) puppy farm on Watchdog.
