I'm not saying that Wikipedia is always wrong, but I would prefer corroboration, such as from primary source material. Wikipedia can often contain some absolute howlers.

I wish I could find details on the TV programme I saw which questioned whether it was indeed syphilis which killed Henry ~ although of course they may well have had all their theories dispelled since then ;o)

If he did die of Syphiis I wouldn't have thought it was congenital..I believe Elizabeth 1 was found to be suffering with congenital syphilis..which of course would have been passed down from either (or both) parents?

Of course, scrofula was known as the King's Evil. It sounds painful and nasty, but was merely (!) a disease of the lymph nodes, normally affecting the neck. It was a form of tuberculosis.
