We had far more fireworks yesterday than during November, but I don't see any of the usual complaints about scared dogs/cats. Is it just my area?
Must have had non stop fireworks really loud for 2 or 3 hours non stop last night, plus more intermittently from Friday night.
Fireworks are rare here, but for 1st time last night, when I let small dog out at 12.05, people a few houses along started setting off rockets. He was petrified, too scared to wee. Shot in behind my legs and shook and panted for an hour beside me before I could get him calm enough to go to bed. Inconsiderate -just let people know and we'll avoid the situation. Happy New Year to you, EDDIE. :)
Had them here...and louder than ever as they were setting them off at midnight in the car park to the rear of my building. They started around 6pm. Poor dog was panting during the worst of it.
It's just that there were so many this new year. We usually get a few but this year it went on for hours, far more than any Nov5th that I can remember.
We are 'house sitting' a neighbor's cat but it was nowhere to be seen last night.
Thanks jourdain and Happy New Year to you and yours.
Not too bad in my area and nowhere near as bad as in November. I suspect there will be a few more tonight. Friend's dog staying but she wasn't in the least bothered. I feel very sorry for the ones that are though.
We've been lucky with our dogs, with the two Dobies Kim would sit and watch while Big Bold Eddie would take himself off to somewhere quiet and dark like a bedroom and shut the door behind himself.
The Dobie we had before them just completely ignored them a well.
I picked a mystery object up in our garden today - I didn't have a clue what it was. Turned out to be remains of a firework rocket! It was about 2ft long and actually quite heavy. Glad I don't do much midnight gardening!!! Yes, same here too, fireworks were going for about 2 hours; quite far from us, but still very loud. I hate them.
Ah yes I remember, Staffie X of course. Actually thinking about it, it's not a terrier thing either as I have had one who wasn't bothered at all. Individual dog I suppose.
