Scratching in my sleep

I can't stop scratching in my sleep. Every night I wake up cos I'm scratching away, usually at my privates, and it's driving me mad. I don't itch during the day, it's only in my sleep and it's ruining my sleep pattern. Anyone else had this problem? Is it just a man thing? The only decent sleeps I get are after a night on the lash or when I've taken Night Nurse if I have a cold. Can anyone suggest what's causing this or any suggestions? No smartarses either!

Obvious and serious question first, have you checked for STD's, parasitic worms or scabies? If not then you should see a doc. Otherwise, good wash, clean bedding, open window, fan if you like, as it could simply be you getting too hot and sweating (try some talcum powder see if it works). When you make your bed make sure to keep the covers off as it cools the bed and controls the bed mites. But I would see that doc first.

DiscoStu and Scratching-You really are asking for it, but I shall refrain. It might be something called jock itch, and no that's not a joke, honest.

try the obvious first - hoover matress(yes hoover) then turn it over, then clean sheets, duvet, etc, then wear nothing in bed,or if you must, just loose cotton shorts/boxers,keeps bedroom well aired,bath/shower before bed and if you are still itching its time for the doctors!
