Hope someone can help,i done a load of washing yesterday in the machine, when i got them out they were unusally hot, soaking wet and not rinsed,i tried some more today and this time when the machine finished everything was just how it had been loaded,it had gone through the cycle but with no water, without the drum turning and with the liquid still in the ball on top of the clothes, the machine is a good few years old now, does anyone know what it could be and if its worth getting it repaired as its no longer under the extended warranty!!thanx guys!

On most machines if you remove the water inlet pipe(s) and look inside the hole where the water enters the machine you might see a small nylon filter, pull it out (might need pliers etc..) and clean it then replace it and try the cycle.
Our machine developed similar symptoms a few months ago. It was a hotpoint, not used that often, (we have no kids), and only about four years old. I went to the place where we bought it and was told that "thats what we call a "five year machine", in that thats the expected life span, if anything goes wrong with it at that age or beyond we wouldnt consider repairing it because it would need quite a few new parts, plus the laybour costs, so that would cost more than the price of a new machine." It sounds like your machine has the same trouble as ours did, the electronic controler is kaput, this can cost 100+Vat +fitting, then the element will be due to go in the next six months etc etc....
Ahhhhhh,so basically be better off getting a new machine, when it was under the extended warranty we had a problem with the drum being off line or something, nothing else but now this,it was the drier had to be replaced few weeks ago, then the car now this,i guess its time for a new one then,,,thanx Impret-sir!
Mine did a similar thing to the first problem you describe. It was caused by the filter being blocked (it's a Zanussi washer dryer with a filter in the bottom corner of the front of the machine) It was getting "confused" and didn't know where it was on the cycle, so just kept chugging along until it got bored, I think! Left hot soapy water in the machine and stipped at a random point. Anyway it was all caused by fluff!
Not sure if a washing mahcine without a dryer has the same kind of filter, but you'll know!
