Well done the police although no doubt the usual suspects will come out of the woodwork to play the race card and saying he was such a nice bloke and never hurt anyone and the police picked on him because he was Asian blah blah blah.

ChillDoubt - //The tragedy lies in his portrayal as a pillar of society. //
That is simple human nature, you will never change that.
Loved ones and close friends of anyone will never see, much less acknowledge that their loved one / close friend is actually a drug-selling psychopath - it's simply not how they see them.
Similarly - no individual looks in the mirror and sees an evil person staring back, it's not the way we are wired.
"I don't understand, all I ever wanted to do was give people a good time ..."
That quote could easily have come from the lips of someone like Bruce Forsyth or Ronnie Corbett, but it was actually said by Al Capone.

Ymb - //I think in this case the two children are far better off Andy.
Either they would have been targeted by Mr Yaqub's opponents or worse been used by Mr Yaqub to further the family business and undoubtedly wound up dead or in Jail, or both.
Perhaps there is now hope for them? //
I think you make a valid point - in the future they may well appreciate this turn in their lives, but they need to go through a mountain of grief first, and that has to be a sad thing.

TTT - //well they haven't stopped whining about the last lowlife drug dealer plod dispatched so I guess this one will go on the to do list dave! //
I know it's downright inconvenient, but we live in a society where the shooting of a citizen (low life drug dealer or not) tends not to go unnoticed, and unquestioned.
It's just one of those annoying prices we pay for living in a civilised society.

There was an item on the news last night where they were interviewing people in Bradford about it. Some of them were wearing masks to conceal their identity, why? One said that the police shot "one of our brothers". What an idiot, what does he mean "one of our brothers"? Of course the police are now consulting with 'community leaders'. How come I haven't got a 'community leader'?

I haven't seen the clip, but would suggest that maybe the interviewee is from the same ethnic group?
It has long been common for African-American men to refer to each other as 'brothers' - maybe that has extended to people of Asian extraction.
