Teenagers!!

I went into a local shop today to buy 4 tickets for our local panto. The tickets were £4 each. Teenager looked puzzled. I asked what was wrong. She said what are four times £4? I had to tell her. An assistant nearby rolled her eyes and muttered something.
How do they get the jobs. Do they not have to do a test or something?

Her maths maybe poor, but I'll bet she is highly proficient in using a smart phone (unlike me ) :-)

FF, I once had a lad who was hopeless at Maths on paper but give him a dartboard, before the perils of H and S, and he could play 301 or 501 with total confidence also working out what he needed to check out. He never saw that as Maths though, he also taught me about betting, yankies, accumulators and so on, he could work out the winnings in a flash. In another post you say that poor Maths is socially acceptable as opposed to poor reading and at is so very true. The wife of a Colonel was almost proud of her child's lack of numeracy because 'I was no good either' but she was horrified at the idea that he might be a poor reader.
