I went into a local shop today to buy 4 tickets for our local panto. The tickets were £4 each. Teenager looked puzzled. I asked what was wrong. She said what are four times £4? I had to tell her. An assistant nearby rolled her eyes and muttered something.

He never saw that as Maths though, he also taught me about betting, yankies, accumulators and so on, he could work out the winnings in a flash. In another post you say that poor Maths is socially acceptable as opposed to poor reading and at is so very true. The wife of a Colonel was almost proud of her child's lack of numeracy because 'I was no good either' but she was horrified at the idea that he might be a poor reader.
