And needed to undergo our credit check etc (like we did last time and the time before when we moved house) - all to obtain a new mortgage on another property, would I have to declare a store card that has £140 ish on it, or could I keep this quiet - my husband would go mental if he thought I had any debt (at all), and I would rather keep it quiet till it's paid off in full (next few months) if I can keep it quiet that is....
This is my only debt, I know it's not a lot - it's more the principle of having it is why he would get mad with me....

The credit check will show the store card even when it has been paid off.
That is why it is called a 'credit check'.
You don't 'declare' your credit cards etc, the credit check looks for your credit history and shows all the credit you have had. You seem to think it is the other way round.

Thanks Eddie, I am aware of this, however I could just say it was from years ago (I've had it for years)....if it's paid off then that's no worries, it's just if it shows any debt on it that he will be mad...
The current balance, together with a record of the last few (10?) payments, will be on your credit reference.

The balances weren't on the last one we got, it was just the details of the cards...
Unless there is a problem such as bad credit, I doubt that you would see the result of your mortgage lenders credit check on you.

We both have excellent credit ratings, our last mortgage provider even commented last time.
Yes the mortgage company will only tell you about the credit check if it comes back as 'poor'. If the store card is paid regularly it will improve your credit rating.
When a Mortgage is credit Scored, the Lender will use their own scoring system and will not actually see the credit register search. Only if it fails on the search will they request a full copy.
As long as you do not have any missed payments or CCJ on the card, it will not have an adverse effect.
If you have been paying it off every month without it would not be a problem, and a balance that low is very unlikely to affect to their decision, unless your finances are extremely tight.
