The condition of your mother's arm continues to unsettle me and i wonder if you could give an update to what has happened in the last 24 hours?

Still badly swollen; elbow, forearm, back of hand, knuckles and fingers.
She has been wearing this and a sling for the last 8 weeks;

In addition to her arm being swollen it (to her best explanation) suddenly goes very hard and she gets a combination of shooting/bubbling/crackling pains towards her hand. These are often on the underside but she gets pain on the top of her wrist/hand, too. An ice-pack helps her wrist/hand but the rest has to be dealt with by analgesics, to a greater or lesser degree of success.
She has had to sleep in a reclining chair since she damaged her arm. I was up trying to make her comfortable at 1, 3 and 7am.....my Dad was on duty at 5am.
The Consultants that she has seen have all commented upon her arm but the Physio in charge of her treatment is happy to explain this as 'usual'.
He keeps frightening Mum with his 'pronouncements'.....his latest being that the pain is likely to be an irritated nerve caused by the new-forming bone and this can be determined with a scan.....she's claustrophobic. :o(
The Consultant will be looking at everything on Wednesday morning but I'm not sure that much positive will come out of it; she'll need to continue wearing the brace and the pain will continue.
Thank you for your concern. I probably won't be able to respond until sometime tomorrow.
