Trying To Use An Emoticon
6 Answers
This morning, Danny kindly sent me a link to this webpage.
https:/ /en.wik ipedia. org/wik i/List_ of_emot icons.
I had a good look and copied one of the High Five emoticon in the 'Upright Latin-only emoticons and single-line art and portraits' section.
When I pasted it to say thank you to Danny, the last three bits wouldn't paste. All that pasted was................. >_>^ ^
I tried to do it by typing rather than copying and pasting but agin, it did not apperar once the reply was submitted.
It's not terribly important but I would like to know why the last part won't transfer to a submitted post.

(The difference appears to be that you've included a full stop on the end of the link).
Let's just give that a try:

Hmm.
I see what you mean. There must be something in the coding used by AB which terminates a string after certain characters have been entered. (It's akin to the various other quirks on this site whereby, for example, some posts seem to be automatically cut off as soon as an Amazon link is included, or where italic text seems not to work if there's any punctuation included within it).
I doubt that AB's techies can be bothered to sort it out though. Those of us who're currently beta testing the new AB site are currently giving them plenty of headaches anyway ;-)
