How To Connect Sony Vaio Laptop To A Printer

I need to connect my Sony Vaio laptop (win 10) to my printer as desktop computer has broken! Is it just a matter of plug in and play or do I have to downloads drivers etc as its all too much for me! Thank you

Is your printer wifi? Make and model would be good

No it's not wifi I could cope with that! It's Canon but no idea of model number!

You'll need to install the drivers. If you've got the disc that came with your printer (and your laptop has a disc drive, of course) then you won't need to know the model number of your printer. (Simply insert the disc and follow the instructions).

Otherwise you'll need to know the model number, so that we can tell you how to download and install the drivers. [Time to start searching, perhaps?]

PS: Just how 'broken' is your desktop computer? If you get it booted and up then you should be able to find out which printer you've got from there.

Use a usb lead to connect, W10 should be able to find a suitable driver for the Canon Printer.

I would suggest that you go to SlackAlice's link even if you have the disc; the drivers from there may be more up-to-date. I have one device (a scanner, I think) which won't work on my current laptop using the drivers which came with it because they were for an earlier version of Windows; I had to get drivers off the internet. You should install the drivers before you connect the printer to the laptop.
