That's a bummer JD, but it could be the start of something great....
Just what you don't want in the new year. I hope something comes his way soon.
It is scary, Anna. We have been there and it seemed like a total disaster but things turned out well in the end.

Hopefully, Mr JD will find another job and your worries will be lifted.

Try to stay positive. Best wishes. x
One door closes another one opens. Good luck !
So very sorry to hear that. Do you have a job ?

thank you for your replies although it's hard not to look on the bright side - at the moment, there isn't one
I do work but it's only part time, with Mr JD's age its going to be even harder to get a job

Sorry to hear that, jd. I remember the day my dad was made redundant. It was crushing.

I don't know Mr jd's age or what kind of income you are accustomed to living on, but there are some jobs out there. It's tough, I know. Best of luck.

Mr JD is very disheartened but we will have to face whatever comes

thanks Cloverjo x
Sorry to hear that JD but we're all here if you want to let off steam x
When it happened to me I started feeling sorry for myself, cue a stiff talking to from my wife. Got the CV going out there , in the end took a job back on the tools instead of maintenance management but spent my last years at work extremely happy to be one of the boys again.
Lowering the expectations can sometimes work for the best.
I got made redundant at age 58. Even the Jobcenter clerk told me that 'we have problems finding work for people over 55'
In the end I went to a temping agency and told them I'd do anything. They got me work immediately as a kitchen porter ( washer up) but it was work and better than the dole. I actually enjoyed it and the kitchens let me start helping with actual cooking. There have been a lot of other jobs as well from production line work to being a guide at an agricultural show where I met a lot of people from New Zealand and Hotel work as a cleaner.
I liked the fact that I never knew where I would be the next day until the phone rang.
^^ I am a degree qualified industrial chemist by training, so this was a real difference but enjoyable.
My wife's opinion was that she not mind me being a toilet cleaner but be a good toilet cleaner.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
she would not
I was made redundant four years ago, and looking back it was probably the kick I needed to change. Things turned out reasonably well, the pay off was useful and I'm not working for those scumbags any more.

Thank you for some good answers there Abers.
ok so Mr JD seems to be thinking that there were parts of the job that he wasnt enjoying so his mood has lifted a bit and he's got to find out where/how things stand currently i.e. notice period, if reduncy how much etc..

Eddie & Donny Mr JD has started sorting his CV out and he will consider something different

thanks everyone - feeling more positive
