I have an R reg rover 416 and over the last few weeks the car alarm has started going off for no reason. It makes no difference if the car is locked with the key fob or with the key and the time lapses each time differ from a few minutes to 8+ hours. Before I take it to a garage and spend loads is this something anyone has come across before?? TIA

I had a similar thing with my N reg 416 . Seemed to happen this time of year when it's cold (????). A neighbour told me to try putting black insulating tape over the sensor lens in the car . It seemed to work . But sort of defeats the object of the alarm though.

Thanks for this, not sure it will work though as when you lock with the key the car cabin space is not activated, think I am going to have to get it looked at, probably cost more thatn the car's worth!

Hi

No we haven't fixrd it, just don't lock the car now!!

We tried the black tape etc and that didn't make any difference, we tried calling around alarm places, but as it's factory fitted only rover dealers are allowed to touch it and our local dealer wants 80 just to have a look!!

If you solve it I would be grateful for the solution

thanks
