Completely stuck with two questions on this:

1. Seasonal flowering plant - not prickly (9, 5)

2. A tyre fire, but no smoke! (4, 5)

I'd guess that the first word of the first one is Christmas, but I'm drawing a complete blank on the second.

Thanks. The clue for the first one suggests something that's not prickly to me, but I can't think of anything other than Christmas Cacti either.

I guess there's also the Helleborus Niger, or Christmas Rose, if the compiler has given the wrong clue length.

I decided to have one last look before completing and posting my entry for, and found another possibility: Christmas Bells. It's one of several names that Sandersonia's known by.
I am pretty sure that the Christmas Cactus that I previously had did NOT have prickles. And that is why I think the answer is Christmas Cacti as it is a play on words re prickles as cacti have prickles but Christmas Cacti do not.
I think.......
