Microgynon (one for the girls!)
I have problem periods and my gynaecologist has decided I need to go on the pill for 4 months. I'm also due for a scan in the next few weeks. This is my first time on the pill, and I've been put on Microgynon (which I've since learned is the cheapest for the NHS!). My gynaecologist suggested the lower dose pill, but my Doctor said that there would be no point in me going on it and prescribed me the full combined dose. However, since I started taking it I've not felt too good. On the first day I was nauseous and vomited, and since then I am having trouble eating - lots of foods I usually love make me feel sick and I can't eat much at a sitting. Plus, my boobs have swollen up like balloons (seriously, none of my bras fit any more) and they are really painful - I can't lie on my front in bed, and just walking makes them unbearable! I'll have been on Microgynon for a week tomorrow. Will the side effects calm down or should I go back to my doctor and ask her to change the pill I'm taking? Sorry for the long winded question, all advice and thoughts appreciated!

I have taken 5 different types of H.R.T as I hit late forties to now ( I'm 51 next month ) and every one has had some kind of un-desirable side effect so I am now going "cold turkey" so to speak.
Who wants to be a woman, eh! I think we have more problems then the men!.......... xxx
Defo go back to GP.My doc is exactly the same as yours, always offering the cheaper alternative ( and microgynon is def ) . You may be just having a reaction to something in it. I got real bad migraines on that and got quite tempramental.
Your doc a bloke by any chance ??? Maybe try a family planning clinic who may be a bit more specialised & sympathetic !
Good luck ....xx
