I'm not a great fan of Popmaster anyway but that bit doesn't bother me too much. Most people seem to have got their list written out in front of them, so that they can get through it fairly quickly.
What really annoys me about Radio 2 is the way that nocturnal listeners (like me) are being side-lined. First they changed the 3am to 5am slot so that, instead of live presenters, we got stuck with repeats of programmes transmitted during the previous week. At least we were left with their very best presenter, Alex Lester, sharing the midnight to 2am slot with Janice Long but, as from the end of this month. their programmes are being scrapped too. So there will only be repeats from midnight to 5am durring the week (and from midnight to 6am at weekends).
The BBC seem not to have realised that, for many, Radio 2 isn't just about hearing music. It's a 'point of contact' for insomniacs, lonely people and many others who like to feel that they can interact with the presenters (even if they actually choose not to do so). If there are only going to be recorded programmes transmitted during the night hours listeners might as well listen to their CDs and MP3s.
If the BBC paid more sensible fees to the likes of Chris Evans and Steve Wright they'd have enough money left to provide proper night-time broadcasting.
