Isn't It Difficult....

...to not do something that you think doing will help but you know jolly well that it won't!I
I charged up my car battery until it was squealing...Enough! Stop!.....then set off to my garage about five miles away.
I chose a route that wouldn't be a disaster if the car died again......but I just couldn't stop driving faster than usual to get there before it did.....all the while telling myself......It'll make no difference, numpty....
But I got to the garage safely......and Gabriel is being tended to now......☺

Going back many years cars had dynamos instead of alternators, with a warning light to show if they were not functioning properly. When alternators first came along I seem to feel there was a problem with the working of the warning light - if the warning-light bulb failed the battery could discharge through the alternator. This is all going back a long time but, if the problem still exists, it could be that which caused your battery to go flat over the other weekend. The message really is to make sure that your alternator warning-light comes on when you turn the ignition on and goes out when the engine starts. Your garage may know if it's still a problem or if a proper fix was found for i.
Thanks for that, bhg...I know now that the alternator was at fault...and folk have asked why I didn't see the warning light....there really has been no warning light so I'll heed your suggestion.....have a word with the mechanic tomorrow ...and watch in future for that light coming on and going off....thank you for that....Gx
You're right......I'd not notice what was happening when I reverse out of the garage......and everything looking fine as I drove lulls me into believing all is well......and all will be well tomorrow I hope!
thank you for your input...all suggestions are welcome.....if this was my old 1960s mini life would be easier!......☺
