Work Cutting My Hours!

i work in a secondary school in the kitchens, i'm on a 20 hour contact but was told today my hours may get cut in may june and july due to school being quiet, i cannot afford to go any lower than 16 hours because ill lose working tax creds and it won't be worth me working! i don't no what to do :( we won't no till may but i'm so worried

there's along way to go yet, maybe look around for another job in the meantime, if you see something that suits you, then change jobs. If you leave it till May you might not find anything suitable in time for it not to affect your finances. Of course this could be what the school wants... do you have many co-workers?

hi i'm already looking for something else but it's hard to find something similar as i have to work around my children, there's 9 of us but we have a very big secondary school and sometimes it seems we don't have enough staff lol but come may apparently it dies down, my boss said she hopes it doesn't come to cutting hours etc but i can't really take that risk! i'm speaking to her today in private to express how worried i am about going below 16 hours, i don't think ill be entitled to anything else if my working tax creds stops for that few months and if i leave willingly i don't think ill be entitled to jsa! can't win lol
