skin - strange pain

For the last few days ive had a strange feeling on a patch of skin on my arm.
The area is about 2 inches square and if something brushes against it it hurts. Its like needles being poked into my skin. It doesnt hurt if i put pressure on it and its nothing below the skin, just the surface.
Theres no marks or anything that i can see and i havnt got sunburnt or anything.
Any ideas? its really starting to irritate me now.

couldnt tell you what it is but i get it as well, it seems to go after a few days, your right its very irritating, i keep an eye on this one, someone might know

this happens to me sometimes just before my periods and disappears when i get my periods. i get it on my arms, or legs and sometimes on my butt. i get the weirdest period symptoms.

This happens to me too redcrx - not very often and it only lasts a couple of days. Its happened most of my adult lifetime really, However, about 8 years ago, it started happening one day, but as the day wore on the pain on touching got worse and worse - even my clothes hurt me - so I went to docs and had contracted shingles which lasted about four weeks and was dreadful. But not wanting to scaremonger really, every other time (and there have been plenty) when this strange feeling has happened, it has come to nothing and was gone in two days. Good Luck x

Thank you everyone. Its still there this morning but it no worse than before so hopefully not shingles.
Shall see what happens to it over the next day or so, with any luck it will just go.

Ive had this before,and my skin hurt to even put clothes on,but funnily enough not to touch hard.It seemed as though the lighter the touch,the more it hurt.It just went of its own accord - never know what it was.I hope that you feel better real soon.xx

Thanks Pinkfizz (oooh youre not a greenie anymore). I thought at first i mustve knocked my elbow as its near there and the slightest touch hurt. But as i said pressure doesnt hurt. Its the weirdest thing :-) How are you today? Did you have a good weekend with b/f after the problems friday and it being fathers day?

Hey redcrx, it's something to do with your nerve endings when you get this. I get it in my fingertips and on the backs of my hands but don't know why. Yours may have been brought on when you bashed your elbow, you may have slightly damaged the nerve endings in that area which is why it's sensitive. That's probably also why Dollie's turned into Shingles which is something to do with an infection in the nerve endings or something! Not making much sense I know, but i'm poorly and my brain isn't functioning at 100% today!!

thanks ktlou but i didnt bash my elbow, i wracked my brains and cat think what i could have done.
You are making sense.It must be nerve endings though and i know thats where shingles comes out so just hope that it clears and doesnt get worse. Ive seen my dad with shingles and i know how painful that can be.

After the nightmare of saturday eve we had a very good day on sunday and he was very very loving,think guilt had kicked in - he better keep it up! lol

Good to hear he is making up for it. I once went out with a guy who had limited acces to his kids and he could be awful when his partner had a go. He got to point of accusing me of all sorts of stuff that his ex said id done. Am so glad to find that they are now back together, they deserve each other lol
