Where's My Hyphen Gone?

Where the hyphen normally is, has changed to a different symbol. I haven't changed it knowingly. How do I get my hyphen back? I'm using an iPad. I'm not at all au fait with technology so please keep your reply simple. Thank you in advance.

Below the Caps arrow there is a "key" thT has .?123 on it. When you tap that the hyphen is the first key in the middle row.

If I get unexpected characters the first thing I check is whether the keyboard is set to be UK.

Chrissa, yes that's where it normally is but it has changed to a different symbol. Old geezer, where do I check that? Thank you all for your replies.

Settings>general>keyboard

If you are using email the hyphen is lower right next to the shift lock. If using anything else it is two keys above when .?123 is pressed.

Sycamore, there's the answer RIGHT THERE! I don't think I've ever tried to use the hyphen in an email before so I've never noticed it's in a different place! Thank you.
