Streetlife

I have been a member of Street life for some time now, but they are changing it to Street life/Next door. I do not like the changes they have made. Do you know of any other local groups similar to this ?

Just been reading about a woman whose ex partner found her when her details were put on Nextdoor...she'd moved over from Streetlife not realising this would happen.....they don't make it very clear before you join......x

There have been lots of threads on my local Streetlife about it. Most people say that they are not going to transfer. It's a shame because Streetlife was really useful for recommendations etc and for anything you want to give away. One person mentioned a site called Streetbank which has the same anonymity as Streetlife but I haven't tried it.

Streetbank needs you to either give something away or lend something on sign up. So no anonymity there

I`ve given plenty of things away on Streetlife but it is still annonymous (just my name and second initial) You pm people with your details if you want to give something away - you don`t have to post them publicly

^that's the same with any site though so I don't see the difference between Streetlife, Streetbank and Freecycle. It looks like Streetbank is primarily a 'things to give away site' but maybe they will evolve if they have a large influx of new members when Streetlife has closed. It`s a shame that Next Door are not going to archive the posts from Streetlife so all of the info on there will be lost

I have had a look. Yes you have to offer something to get started. It seems to give names on posts as far as I can see. Maybe there is a privacy option , not sure TBH
