Iceberg Lettuces
16 Answers
We went to Lidl yesterday, when we got to the checkout the man in front had a full trolley, including about 20 iceberg lettuces and at least 6 cucumbers.
He told the checkout girl the lettuces were for his chickens but the cucumbers were for himself. I didn't know chickens ate lettuces.
I thought people were being rationed on lettuces.

I once saw a woman fill her trolley chock-full of the cheapest bread and the cheapest baked beans in the store. I surmised that she ran a B&B for people on DHSS. Turned out that I was right. On another occasion I saw a Chinese lady clear the shelves with the cheapest brand of rice and sliced carrots. Again, she worked in a Chinese takeaway. How it is cheaper to buy from a supermarket rather than a wholesaler I don't know. Mind you, these were really bottom of the range items. You never know what you're getting when you buy fast food.
