He sounds like marked man. If I remember correctly, wasn't he voted in to that position by Labour in order to annoy the Tories? He really is an odious little creep.

George Thomas had the good fortune to die before he was exposed as a sexual pervert, a fact ably concealed by the Labour Party through his Welsh buddy, Leo Abse.
//it is about time a Labour candidate was installed as speaker, as they are much better at it than the Tories. //

I note you didn't name-check the current speaker's immediate predecessor, Michael martin, presumably because he doesn't fit the pattern?
ie, labour and a complete buffoon.....
// Dennis Sinner //

There's a freudian slip :-)
Yes, we all remember Gorbals Mick. LOL!
Bercow's sin was to agree to work for Gordon Brown's Labour Government, with the blessing of the Conservatives, in 2007.
His son has autism, and it is a suject Bercow MP had long supported and campaigned about. When a review of Government Policy on autism was needed, Alan Duncan at the Department of Health asked Bercow to do it, having first sought permission from the Conservative leadership.
To a hardcore handful of Tory nutjobs, that made Bercow a traitor and they have never accepted his appointment.
In 2009 there were 10 candidates, and Bercow beat Lord Young in the final ballot to win 55% to 45%.
Bercow has been re-elected twice since. The same Tory nutjobs tried to unseat him on the last day of the last parluament but failed miserably.

// William Hague, the outgoing leader of the house, suffered a humiliating rebuff on his final day in the Commons when a Tory backbench rebellion saw off an attempt, engineered by Hague and the chief whip, Michael Gove, to start the ousting of the Speaker, John Bercow. //
Regardless of how he got there or the rights and wrongs of it he does need to go now. Odious little pip squeak.
you forgot Gorballs mick gromit the master of the fiddlings.
He's made the same mistake as Blair, Thatcher, and others. He's allowed a good start to go to his head - "power corrupts" - and such hubris is inevitably followed by nemesis. He's managed to survive one or two such onslaughts but I think he's lost this one and we will see him thrown overboard pretty soon.
