A few years ago, I heated up a can of Chilli Con Carne for my teenage daughter for food. She screamed at me a few minutes later saying she had found a sweet wrapper amongst the Chilli. Closer examination showed it to be part of a Mars Bar wrapper - the logo was distinctive. The odd thing was that the writing beneath the logo was in what looked like Dutch. It turned out that the Chili was canned in Holland.
I complained to the manufacturer and had a voucher back a few months later. They explained that they had established the canning date and time and a worker on the packaging line had been given the sack around the time it was canned! Hell of a way to leave your employment but we laugh about it now.

We often get a stone in our spuds when bought from greengrocer rather than large supermarket, I suppose they get loaded in and look no different to the spud, on the chat of mushrooms, I've recently started to just love mushrooms, I would eat them raw if I could, having read this thread, guess who has just run to the kitchen to dump her chestnut mushrooms :( I'll take my vit D in another form (yuk, the thoughts of worms in them)
I loved gathering mushrooms in Ireland, Ummmm...never tasted better....
Ummmm.....Once I gave all the girls a list of things to bring....I stole the tartan shortbread tin the cats had their milk in and brought the mushrooms I'd gathered.....others the turf, matches, butter and paraffin and we went up onto the fairy hill and cooked the mushrooms..... delicious ........and I got into trouble........ :-(

I often found half a caterpillar in my salad when I was a child - put me off salad for years, mum wasn't the best at that sort of thing. Worst experience I know of was my poor godmother who worked in the offices at Salts Mill, Saltaire (I did holiday work in the kitchens). She cut open and began eating a meat pie,, it was a bit crunchy and she looked at the contents --- half a cockroach was left!!
The kitchens were infested with them. I was 16 and the 'pest men' had been in and dusted everywhere - one fell off a metal beam and right down the front of my overall...........you could have heard my screams in Bradford!

Had glass in a jar of baby food when my daughter was tiny. Turns out there was a man doing it deliberately and it was on the news. Several were found. I had tv crews outside my house, reporters turning up and it made the news and papers. Was very very weird. Thank god I found it before I fed it to her. Never did buy another jar.
