I don't know if any of you use the Streetlife local forums - they are quite useful in sharing local concerns and information.

Streetlife is closing soon and members are being invited to change over to using a forum called Nextdoor if they wish to maintain their local links.

If you receive an invite to transfer, you should think VERY carefully before registering with Nextdoor.

Nextdoor requires your full name and address AND WILL SHARE THIS WITH ALL OTHER LOCAL MEMBERS.

There is an option to withold your house number, but your street address WILL be shared as will your full name.

I registered with Nextdoor before realising this - it wasn't made clear and I think that's pretty poor.

I very rapidly deactivated my account there and will not be using the site - a shame, because I liked Streetlife.

You wouldn't want me, Gness. I'm happily married, ugly as sin with no prospects :(
Crikey....that's the fastest I've ever been dumped..... :-(
It seems to be working OK but it is still frustratingly slow.
Maybe it's me becoming aged, after all I'll be 66 in 5 years...
Wow!......Almost as old as me then.........☺
What's working okay, Shoota?

Dave, I've had an email today from Streetlife with a reply to a question I have been following. On clicking on the email, I get a Nextdoor message inviting me to join, or join later, no other choice. I can see the SL messages behind the ND message but if I try to click them I'm taken back to the ND message. As Catherine Tate's Nan would say, "What a *** liberty". Cheeky ***.
I also deactivated my account with NextDoor after a couple of days. It is not as good as StreetIfe, which I have used for several years, and I am disappointed that we have lost such an excellent facility.

Personally, I don't think that the new NextDoor website is safe.
