Can any of you help!? Now its that time of year to get the open toed sandals out, i've noticed that my feet aren't looking too great! The main thing is that where the shoes i wear to work aren't too comfortable, they were pressing on my toes. I now have pads of hard skin on some of them that are quite red. They aren't excalty corns, just quite hard skin. If they weren't so red you wouldn't really notice them. So, i was wondering if there is anything i can do to take the redness out? I haven't been wearing the uncomfortable shoes for a while now, and the redness hasn't gone away - are there any miracle creams or something i could try?!

Dunno about the Red Colour, but when my Feet go all Hard and Dry I do the following:

Get a BIG Lump of Vaseline and rub it in all over your Feet, then put a Pair of Socks on, then go to Bed. In the Morning your Feet will be Softer and Smoother!! Do this a couple of Nights every now and then and your Feet will become much nicer to own!!

Also, invest in a good Foot Cream. Like you buy Special Cream for your Face, do the same with your Feet. My Feet have been smelling Sweet and looking okay since I have done this!!
I would recommend you take time to give yourself regular pedicures. Invest in a decent pumice file and foot cream and then do the following once a week:-

1. Place a large bowl of soapy water on a towel on the floor. Using the pumice/file, work on the dry areas of your feet. Soak your feet for a few minutes.

2. Gently file the dry areas some more. Soak feet again.

3. Clip toe nails and file as appropriate. (each time you're working on one foot, always soak the other).

4. Apply foot cream and massage into feet for about 2 minutes on each foot. Leave to soak in for a couple of minute then wear socks.

You won't need to clip your toenails once a week but you should aim to soak your feet as it softens them up nicely. Do it throughout Summer if you're planning on wearing open sandals and the like. Come Winter your feet will be amazing!

Also, when applying nail varnish to toes you may get bits of varnish on the surrounding skin. Don't panic though, as a long soak in a bath the next night will wash those away and your nails will look perfect.

Do away with bad-fitting shoes though, Alix, if only to prevent longterm damage to your feet.

As for ditching the uncomforatable shoes - isn't it always the way that the best looking shoes are always the most painful?!?
Try Birkenstocks! They are comfortable and they look good!
