My wife has a collection of slides given to her by her late uncle, covering her childhood days. They are on 7cm square mounts and she wishes to scan them so the images are preserved. Can anyone give a recommendation as to how we may achieve this please?

Many photographic shops have scanning facilities or you can buy a scanner and do it yourself.

As I said if you need a lot of slides scanned it is cheaper to buy your own scanner, you can always sell it again afterwards.
Film scanners sold in stores and online are almost all (entirely?) designed to work with 35mm film.

Similarly the slide scanning services offered by High Street photo labs can normally only deal with 35mm slides.

Scanning '120 film' images is a specialist task (since they require the service provider to have a film scanner costing many thousands of pounds) and thus doesn't come cheap. However there are a small number of providers who can do the job, such as here:

I have a large collection of 35mm slides so preferably I would like to purchase a scanner which will accommodate both sizes. Many thanks for your suggestions - Photolegacy appear to be competitive for the 70mm.
As Buenchico says a medium format scanner to scan the 7 x 7 slides will cost well over £1000

Best idea may be to have the 7x7 slides professionally scanned and buy a 35mm scanner. A good 35mm scanner can be bought for under £100.
You could always buy a photographic light box and photograph each slide with your own camera on a tripod. Any colour cast can be removed using Photoshop or similar, which you will probably have to use anyway with any slide scanner that you can get. Most modern cameras will focus down far enough to do that and you should get quite decent results.
