One Size Fits All Mentality

Why does society have a 'one size fits all' mentality?
Ive seen it over and over again since my school days when everyone was expected to enjoy sports for instance (I hated it and still do), and you're seen as odd if you don't conform. Ive seen it in prison when a screw told me that I was anti social because I preferred to spend some time alone in my cell rather than go for 'association' periods. And ive recently experienced it when getting my CV drawn up. For some reason been a 'team player' almost seems a requisite on a CV nowadays. I'm NOT a team player and work best when left to it. I'm not anti social either, just don't like mixing too much with people that Id rather not be with in my personal life.
Why doesn't society accept that we arnt all the same?

I'm the other way ... I'm not great with my own company (ironically, coz I live on my own) ... I need to have lots of "pals time" lined up,and I'm usually the last one who wants to go home.
But "society" does have a way of suggesting that everyone should think in a particular way.

Seems all employment wants team players these days. It's the fashion in management"wisdom". You should be extrovert too or there's something flawed with you. And of course you must relish the team building days and events.
Did you explain to the prison officer their confusion over the difference between 'antisocial' and 'unsocial' ?

Nah, just shut the door and took the opportunity to pleasure myself while my cell mate was on association and then enjoyed listening to the radio while writing a couple of letters (seriously)

Nailit, there are lots of people around where I live ... I mean lots! ... who don't think in the way the majority tries to dictate.
Individual thinking and attitude is something to be embraced.
Take heart, Nailit ... there are places where people who refuse to be "conformist?" are seen as the heart and soul of the town.
