If you have new neighbours move in, do you go and introduce yourself? If you move into a new place, do you go and make yourself known to the neighbours?
I've been in my new house 3 weeks. I thought I should make myself known. The ones directly opposite have 20 dogs. They are quite a nice couple, although I mean, 20 dogs? The ones next door are very sweet, although they let their HUGE labrador/retriever hump me and I now have a hole in my leggings. OK, so that broke the ice. And then the others in the big house across the road, well ******* me, he answered the door in his underpants and said his wife was in the shower and would I like to come in. Errr no, perhaps it is an inconvenient moment and I'll pop back.
You try to be neighbourly, you wish you hadnt.....
Barmaid, there are six neighbours I am neighborly with, that's as far as a chat and posting a free evening paper through their door every Thursday/ Friday. Once I'm through my front door though, I like my own company.
I wouldn't really know the correct protocol. I've lived in my current house for forty years this year and the neighbours either side were both there when I arrived! I'm still the new boy!
My sister moved house recently and whilst a few of us were helping with the move the chap next door knocked with six cups of tea and chocolate biscuits. He thought (quite correctly) that we would not be able to find cups and a kettle. What a nice chap (well, it was in Norfolk).
I've never actually introduced myself to any neighbours but one time my ex introduced himself to the bloke who'd just moved in next door saying "I'm a chippy if you need a hand with anything" and he replied "I'm a pharmacist if ever need any drugs" Made me laugh...
so the law quarter is as mad as we say ....
the fella in his undies was a judge I suppose
( mens undies I am sure )
but seriously - Bam Bam - first - welcome to your new house
and secondly yes I do introduce myself to new neighbours and ask if there is anything I can do
( you know my medical condition is such that getting up and walking in a straight line is 10 /10 for the day and anything extra is rare and probably untrue )
the reason is one neighbour ( code named Vicky Pollard ) reported me to the Police as in her garden at midnight....
luckily I was to be found in London not a million miles away from Pump Court actually ..... I am careful to culture my neighbours as rare wild fleurs....and shout things to the birds like - cooee birdies going down to Lundy today .....
// I posted a photo of mink/pine marten here earlier & showed it to my customers. They have taken it upon themselves to report the finding to Wildlife Trust!//
and yup the live web cam was taken off ( for a time) because of wild life complaints that sexually explicit thangs like female genitalia were being broadcast
( the actual webcam just shows april pacing around an enclosure )
I think BM would prefer judges in undepants I think
