I must admit to a certain amount of "gloating" about the demise of Arsenal. I was at the 71/72 semi at Villa Park when we played them off the Park but only drew, then at Goodison for the replay where we were beaten. But even worse than that was the year before70/71 where we had murdered them at Hillsborough and leading 2-0 only to be cheated by Pat Partidge who awarded a 90th minute penalty( no extra time those days) to allow them to get a draw. Then that replay at Villa Park where we were beaten, again after looking and playing a much more expansive and attractive style of footie. Oh just typing it brings back the burning sense of injustice. Mind you we did beat Chelsea in the League Cup final at Wembley in 72 after playing West Ham 4 times in the semis. That was mental and again I saw every game. I once worked out that I had spent enough travelling from N.Wales to watch Stoke over a 10 year period to have bought a house outright.
