MrG was thirteen when his dad died. His mum bought a three person plot in a now full cemetery for dad, herself and MrG....this always bothered MrG....he hated going with his mum to put flowers on the grave.....
I'd forgotten about this and MrG is buried in a double plot in the new cemetery......the plan being for me to join him.

But....I don't like the new cemetery......for one thing it's noisy....so I've decided on the green burial ground not far from here.....I've sussed out the land so I know sort of where I'll end up.....

Would knowing exactly where you were going to be buried bother you like it did MrG when he thought he'd be in the old cemetery?.....

Or would you, like me, want to know where you'll be and what will be around you?.....x

I had a friend who committed suicide and had left her body to medical research......a wonderful thing to do....but I couldn't......x
My family have a tomb in the local churchyard where generations of them have been buried since 1642. No way am I going in there. I am going to be cremated and I want my ashes scattered on the sea in Barbados
My body is to be offered to a medical school for students to use.
If they don't want it there are instructions to send it direct to the furnace in the crematorium via the back door with no ceremony at all.
Not even a coffin just my body in a body bag which I already have (bought for £12 off eBay) The ideal would be to get a courier to take my body to the crem as a parcel ( £12) and save paying for a van and driver. There should be change out of £400, main cost is the £300 cremation fee.
Question Author
I wondered if anyone here had done that, Eddie.....I just couldn't do that....though I have great respect for those who do. I know how important it is for medical students to have folk like you.....

Like MrG's funeral.....mine won't be expensive.....but the wake will have to be good......and my kids will have to listen....probably for the last time if they have their way....to Joan Baez....☺
So you won't be with Mr. G .G?
Question Author
I don't think so, Anne...unless I change my mind or have him moved which I'd consider......

We had him buried where he is because the kids all felt that was where he'd have wanted to be...in his home town. I agreed and bought the two plots.

Now there is a green site quite near here......it's where I'd prefer and he'd be happy as long as I was, I know.....so decisions....x
When you're dead, it really does not matter.
It's the one's left behind that need considering. They are the ones who will be happy or concerned.
G , as long as you are both within texting distance to each other .:-)
Question Author
True, Tilly......and I'm happy to talk and discuss with those I will leave behind.
The problem with MrG was that he wouldn't.....I know and understand why but knowing his wishes would have made things easier...

We can Whatsapp, Anne...I'm quite liking that....x
Excellent idea .
When I die, after all my bits that will help someone else are taken, I would like my ashes to be scattered in the sea. I have visions of an arm floating off to Barbados (wonderful) and a leg ending up in beautiful Sri Lanka, etc., etc. Always did like travelling. ;o)
